Concord submitted our application on June 18, 2009. Concord was finally contacted by Charlie Cash with NC Dept of Labor who scheduled a meet and greet on March 26, 2010. Charlie was extremely impressed with our safety program and recommended that we proceed with the plant inspection. On August 11, 2010 Charlie Cash and Tony Keene started the 3-day audit. On October 1st Concord received the approval letter from the NC Dept of Labor that we had received the Carolina Star status. The Carolina Star program is the highest recognized VPP safety program for the state of North Carolina.
The flag raising ceremony was held at the Concord plant on October 29, 2010. Guests included employees spouses, NC Dept of Labor staff, local Mayor and Regional Oldcastle Managers. The ceremony included a catered lunch, awards, flag raising and fellowship throughout the day.
