The City of Monroe’s Georgia Utility Training Academy (GUTA) is a state of the art training facility that sits on 4.5 acres, has a 4,000 square foot building, and a mock neighborhood accommodating classroom and hands on field training specializing in natural gas, water, wastewater, confined space, trenching & shoring, flagging and a fire school as well.
The overall goal of this facility is to build safety awareness through training and support for their utility service workers across the state of Georgia. The key to the success of this facility is that it is open to all utility companies, contractors and anyone that would seek a benefit of training their people. This opportunity allows utility service workers to learn both by educational material and through scenario field training as well as provide certification in their respective fields.
The City of Monroe stated that this facility was only the 2nd of its kind in the country and that they were drawing candidates for training from all across the United States.
