The new 15,000 sq. ft. facility, including an automated bi-directional Packerhead pipe production machine, customized moving floor, robotically controlled overhead crane and computerized batching system, is an addition to the existing plant that has been in operation for over 50 years. The plant cost an estimated $3.7 million to construct. “The enhanced capacity, flexibility and speed that our new plant will provide promises an immediate impact on production—ramping up current and future transportation and drainage projects throughout the state,” says Joe Diana, General Manager for Cayuga Concrete Pipe. “We look forward to continued improvement in servicing our customers through our investments in Croydon and Bristol Township.”
The Croydon plant currently employs 40 workers and an increase in employees is anticipated as the new production capacity comes on-line. The facility is estimated to produce 70,000 tons of reinforced concrete pipe per year. Cayuga Concrete Pipe is celebrating with an open house and plant tours. Senator Robert M. Tomlinson (Senate District 6, PA Transportation Committee) and Representative Anthony J. Melio (141st Legislative District—Bucks County) are invited guests in addition to customers, engineers, local officials and residents. With locations in Montrose and Croydon, Cayuga Concrete Pipe is the largest producer of concrete pipe in the state of Pennsylvania. The Cayuga plants supply 12" through 144" rubber gasket and mortar joint pipe, as well as elliptical pipe as large as 108" in diameter. Concrete pipe is used for drainage and stormwater projects and supports most major roadways in Pennsylvania as well as the U.S.
