Oldcastle Precast – Mansfield, Texas started in 1969 as Brooks Products in Arlington, TX. The Brooks family from El Monte, CA purchased 10 acres of land in Arlington, TX and built the first building phase of Brooks Products, Inc. Dry cast meter boxes for water meters and pull boxes for small wire splicing was the complete line of products produced. In 1972, the precast concrete business was beginning to grow in north Texas. Brooks Products purchased some used molds that met specifications and started making precast products for the Electric and Communication markets. Over the next two, additional molds were purchased to produce drainage, environmental and meter vault products. The original building size was increased twice to meet production demands. The last addition was in 1985 when a building with more crane height was needed to produce the ever growing sizes of precast products. In 1988, Brooks Products purchased Hefner Precast in Cleburne, TX. The acquisition gave Brooks Products the capability to produce large vaults for the Power market.
Oldcastle Precast acquired Brooks Products in April, 1996. The acquisition brought new ideas and engineering backup to the Arlington and Cleburne plants. As the vision for the future became clear, we knew the Arlington plant was not capable of providing the production capabilities the precast market required. In September, 1997, Oldcastle purchased Utility Precast, Inc. in Lancaster, TX to help meet the demand. In 1999, the three plants in Arlington, Cleburne and Lancaster were merged into one facility in Mansfield, TX. In August 2004, Newbasis Central was acquired by Oldcastle Precast including the operation located in Arlington, TX. The Newbasis Arlington plant was closed and consolidated into Mansfield.
Mansfield is strategically located between two of the largest and fastest-growing cities in the state of Texas: Fort Worth and Dallas. Mansfield is built on 25 acres with a current under roof manufacturing area of 68,000 sq. ft. The plant includes three main high-speed overhead cranes; a centralized computer controlled automated batch plant which is completely enclosed inside the factory, and an automated rebar shear line. The Mansfield plant was designed to be an environmentally-friendly, good neighbor facility with respect to waste byproducts, with the batch plant capturing and recycling all processed material including wash water, dust and excess concrete. The new facility was designed and engineered through Oldcastle "Best Practices" to be a highly efficient plant producing the highest quality precast concrete products.
Mansfield provides precast products that meet and/or exceed current specification, capable of making products from small 12"x12" catch basins up to 24'x34' utility structures weighing in excess of 50,000 lb..
