The project was designed and bid to be a poured in place structure. Instead of the original pour in place structure, the contractor, W.W. Clyde in Springville, Utah accepted our bid proposal to Engineer and submit a precast designed box culvert for approval to the State of Idaho.
The project required the box to be completed and installed in the City of Filer irrigation canals no later than March 15th 2010. The precast proposal was accepted by the State of Idaho and the Idaho Falls office, teamed up with our plant in Nampa, Idaho to build the box culvert during the winter months of January and February to meet the contractors deadline.
The use of a precast box culvert allowed the contractor to meet and exceed the expected deadlines of The Idaho Transportation and the Twin Falls Canal Company. The job went very well which contributed to our being contacted in the spring of 2010 by the Idaho Transportation Department who purchased another precast box culvert similar to the one used in Twin Falls for the Island Canal project in Rigby Idaho. The two projects totaled $1.2 million in sales, which is very significant in our small E. Idaho market. This is a good example of how the Idaho team, led by the sales efforts of Cory Dietz in this case, has helped to contribute to the success of Eastern Idaho.
